Father's Day - Folded Shirt Card

I came across this cute card for Father's Day on Martha Stewart's Website.  I wanted to make these with the Activity Girls to go along with a Father's Day Gift we were making.  Problem was, the instructions on the website didn't seem to make a lot of sense.

With a little bit of trial and error, I got it figured out.  I started with a 12"x12" piece of scrapbook paper that I cut down to 7 1/2" x 12".  Basically you can use any size that is skinny rectangle.

Have fun embellishing with a tie, bow tie, pocket or buttons!

Clair, what is the finished size? I have seen this done with dollar bills, but nothing so big. Very cute.

This is what we are doing for our dad! I love that so many talented people share their ideas online! ;)

Hi Candy!
The finished product is about 5 by 4 with the paper size I started which was 7 1/2 x 12. If you used a 8 1/2 x 14 size paper it would come out bigger.

I love that idea for Father's day. We did that last year and Chris loved it.

Wow Elise! Love your site!! Subscribed via email. A friend of mine is coming to Brisbane next week for her daughters wedding - she is super excited!

Thanks for sharing your site, I just love the cupcake bouquet. I am having a mommy and me tea with the girls from church and we may just have to recreate that!

I was wondering what you meant in step 8. How do you fold the triangle out? THe big or little ones tucked in?

Thank you so much for putting these instructions up! At a certain point it is really hard to follow and your step by step instructions with pictures were so helpful! Great card idea!

@anonymous
when you are doing step 7, you should notice that the sleeves will start to form and the top part will start to fold over a little on its own. When you fold the paper down on the crease you may need to guide the triangles that form the sleeves out. (You will be leaving the smaller triangles folded under at the very top alone) I hope that helped clarify - its kind of hard to describe.
